Recently, heat sink materials used for semi-conductor and LED are required for high thermalconductivity (TC) and low thermal expansion. Cu has superior TC but high thermal expansion. In order toobtain the suitable heat sink, the preparation of Cu matrix composites is one of solutions. As carbon fiber (Cf)has higher TC for the longitudinal direction, unidirectional oriented Cf is expected as the candidate forreinforcing Cu. In recent studies, Spark plasma sintering (SPS) was used for the preparation of Cu matrixcomposites, because of easy controlling of microstructure the composites. Cold rolling is one of theafter-treatment processes which can control the orientation of Cfs easily. In this study, cold rolling was used asafter-treatment process for controlling the orientation of Cfs in composites. The orientation distribution of Cfswas controlled by cold rolling, then the influence of Cfs orientation on thermal properties was evaluated.
