Grain refinement by severe plastic deformation (SPD) is well known for improvingstrength of metallic materials with grain sizes below 1 μm. Simple shear extrusion (SSE)technique is one of the SPD, which the materials undergo shear deformation from squarecross-section shape at the channel inlet to a parallelogram shape with maximum distortion anglein middle of the channel, and back to square at the outlet.1) The SSE process is one of thepromising procedures to prepare high strength and superior corrosion resistant metals. Thepurpose of this research is to examine the electrochemical polarization behavior of ultrafinegrained copper processed by SSE in comparison with its coarse grain counterpart.
