This species, Rutilus frisii kutum, belongs to cyprinids, which is the most famous, valuable, commercial and economic teleost in the Caspian Sea (Razavi, 1995). It just finds only in Caspian Sea and the main habitat is relating to south of the CaspianSea, especially in Iran beaches (Razavi, 1995). Artificial reproduction and culture of this species in pool and renewal of stocks in Caspian Sea has been started since 1982 (Emadi, 1995). The effect of ovarian fluid on sperm characteristics has been neglected, particularly in cyprinids fish. The purpose of the present study was to determine the concentration of the major inorganic ions (Na +, K +, Ca+2 and Mg+2), organic composition (glucose, cholesterol and total protein), pH and osmolality of ovarianfluid in Rutilus frisii kutum, as well as effect of ovarian fluid (ten females) as a potential contributor factor to sperm motility (duration of motility and percentage of motility) was investigated. Additional tests tried to identify the most useful concentration for improving sperm motility throughout the activation process. Sperm was diluted with different percent of ovarian fluid (OF) as follow 33 : 67, 50 : 50, 67 : 33, 75 : 25, 80 : 20 and 85 : 15 (ovarian fluid: sperm).
