Concomitant with the increasing fish-farming activity in several coastal areas, the potential for large number of escape events are bigger. In this sense, a major concern are the interactions of escaped fish with the nearby marine environment, mainlywith wild fish populations (predation, genetic inbreeding, etc.).apeA large escape event of the european Sea bass (dicentrarchus labrax) was reported In February 2010 in the western coast of La Palma Island (Canary Islands, Central Eastern Atlantic) due to severe storm weather.. The aim of this study setup a monitoring study of the escaped Sea bass population in that island and several parameters were measured in 6 locations through the island: distribution, abundance, reproductive output, predation upon local fish populations, fatty acid profile (FA) etc.
