1. The rate, initial cure temperature, and type of cure have a profound affect on the apparent increase in cross-link density as reflected in the equilibrium plateau modulus of DMA data. 2. In a co-reactive epoxy-amine curing reaction the clouding of the matrix during cure may be driven by enthalpy changes that occur during the initial stages of the epoxy amine reaction. 3. The Hansen sphere may provide the best means of estimating the solubility parameters of organically treated clays, thereby leading to a reliable estimate of the F-H interaction parameter between the clay and reacting polymer.
