Quercus rubra L. (Red Oak), Quercus genus of Fagaceae family, is a highly valuable timber tree species in the United States. The quantity of red oak China has imported has been increasing steadily in recent years. It is expected that the introductionof Quercus rubra will diversify tree plantation species. The establishment of Q. rubra germplasm ex situ conservation will promote more research and development on Q. rubra in South China.
