The content of eight heavy metals (Hg, As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Zn, Pb, Ni) in fly ash (FA) were determined through agitation leaching test, the dissolution characteristic of them were also analyzed. The results showed that the content of eight heavy metals was as follows: Ni>Cr>Cu>Pb>Zn>As>Cd> Hg.In the leaching test, the leaching content of eight heavy metals in sequence was:Pb>Ni>Cu>Zn>Cr> As>Cd>Hg, and the leaching simplicity of them was: Hg>Cd>Pb>As>Zn> Ni>Cu>Cr.On basis of the total amount analysis and leaching characteristics, the safety of FA as filler material in wastewater treatment was evaluated comprehensively and systematically,and then pollution prevention measures was proposed according to the feature of the FA used in wastewater treatment
