1. In 2014, Colorado became the first US state to legalize the industrial-scale cultivation of cannabis spp. plants. In 2018, there are more than 600 cannabis spp. cultivation facilities (CCFs) in operation in the greater Denver area with an estimated 550,000 mature plants under cultivation. 2. Those cannabis industry emissions are not considered in EPA national emission inventory (NEI), we hypothesize that emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) from these plants may have an impact on local and regional ozone formation. 3. Many CCFs are located in the urban core, where other urban emission sources are concentrated, resulting in interactions which can lead to the formation of ozone, impacting air quality.
