Astronauts: Beyond the Boundaries of Space and Dime

The advent of space tourism has made the term "Astronaut" ambiguous and blurred the lines between crew and passenger. This places into doubt the application of key treaties for the assistance and rescue of persons in space. Furthermore, the promotion of "space tourists" sets up an unrealistic expectation of safety, leading the space tourism industry to a Boeing-Max style crisis. The industry must set a new course, defining all space goers as Astronauts and as Crewmembers, to avoid perils that lie ahead.
