The scope of the work is to present an integrated method for assessing the energy efficiency of waste-to-energy plants. A characteristic aspect of waste-to-energy plants is that they are not only energy generation facilities but also metal recovery operations. Thus, the efficiency formulas should take into consideration not only the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) production but also the quality of the materials. In addition, the gradual commercialization of novel technologies like gasification and pyrolysis is making the inclusion of materials a necessity. This work presents numerical solutions between the 3T method and the R1 formula and assesses the limitations and constraints of each methodology
