The article proposes a mathematical model of water shut-off in a homogeneous and heterogeneous composite horizontal reservoir during the process of two-phase and three-component filtration of fluids with the consideration of capillary phenomena, residual resistance factor, and depth of the water shut-off agent penetration. According to the numerical calculations the residual resistance factor subsequent to water shutoff significantly influences efficiency of the process; moreover, at any stage of field development, significant oil recovery factor increase can be achieved by the residual resistance factor regulation. The depth of the water shut-off agent penetration and the time for its flushing-out are notably depend on the production zone permeability. The proposed model allowstochoosethe best timingfor water shut-off stimulation.
