An Effect of Dayak Onion (Eleutherine Americana Merr) On Quality of The Sperm

Dayak onion is a plant (Eleutherine americana Merr) that is widely found in Kalimantan and empirically used as a treatment. This plant contains antioxidants that can neutralize oxidative stress, so dayak onion is a very potential modern medicinal plant. Dayak onion extract can be used as antioxidants in reducing lead toxicity. This study aims to prove the potential of dayak onion in inhibiting decrease of sperm concentration in mice induced by lead acetate. This study was a laboratory experimental study using Posttest Only Control Group Design. The result of this study showed significant differences in sperm concentration between KO group with K3, K1 with K3 and K4, K2 with K3. In conclusion, dayak onion extract inhibits the decrease in sperm concentration, in mice induced with lead acetate.
