Two-Dimensional Directional Lifting Schemes

We consider a two-dimensional directional lifting scheme on a frequency plane R~2 that is useful for an efficient multidirectional wavelet expansion or transformation. In particular, we focus on the lifting scheme as an elementary modification of a set of biorthogonal filters that hold biorthogonality. The proposed method is a straightforward extension of the original lifting scheme on R that offers a custom design of biorthogonal filters with directional properties.
