Abstract The satellite-borne infrared Fourier spectrometer is one of the main infrared remote sensing instruments mounted on meteorological satellites. It can detect the vertical distribution of parameters such as large temperature and humidity. In this paper, the development of spaceborne infrared Fourier spectrometer is reviewed, and the performance characteristics of the spaceborne infrared Fourier spectrometer at a different stage at home and abroad are compared. Combined with the development of current instruments and the characteristics of the information age, the process of spaceborne infrared Fourier spectrometer technology development is prospected, and the development direction of "one wide and three high" and hyperspectral integrated data network is pointed out, which can provide reference for maturity and practicability of the infrared Fourier spectrometer technology in China.
