Using Geographical Information System and Multi-Criteria Analysis for Travelling Routing Design from Phayao Province to Luang Prabang

Tourism is the national agenda of Thailand. Phayao is the province in the north part of Thailand contains several attractive natural areas and cultural treasures. This paper presents a procedure to design an effective traveling route from Phayao province, Thailand to Luang Prabang province, Laos. In this paper, traveling data trips have been collected in the survey project and then the traveling database was constructed by secondary data and the survey data. After that, the potential traveling route has been considered by the expert, Thai government agencies and private tourism businesses. In this work, the Geographical Information System (GIS) function and the Multi-Criteria analysis were employed to identify appropriate routes. It found that the results from this project are very encouraging.
