Making Sense of Technology Disruption: How Small Businesses Navigate the'Pass'Model

How do small business owners make sense of"pass"model technology disruptors/platforms? How does this sensemak-ing shape their engagement with the"pass"model platform? Method and Data We engaged in a three-month multimethod ethnographic investigation of three organizations in the boutique fitness field,two years after the introduction ClassPass.We used a case study framework which included: participant observation(137 hours),consumer surveys(n = 240),analysis of seven years of administrative data(n = 15,496)and in-depth interviews(n = 31).
