An orderly charging strategy for electric vehicles based on TOPSIS to solve the problem that distribution transformers in old residential areas cannot meet the collective charging needs of a large number of electric vehicles is proposed. The charging management structure of residential areas is analyzed. The probability distribution of electric vehicles travel characteristics considering the charging needs of users is determined. The TOPSIS algorithm is proposed to control the priority of electric vehicles queuing charging with the goal of maximizing the charging demand satisfaction rate and minimizing the standard deviation of the distribution transformer load. The results of calculation examples show that the method proposed in this paper can reduce the charging load of electric vehicles during peak load periods in residential areas within the safety level of the distribution network, fully improve the charging demand of electric vehicles and achieve a balance between the grid and electric vehicles.
