Cost-saving through lightweighting solutions is predominant in increasing the demand for polypropylene compounds in the automotive industry. Innovative product development in high-performance glass-coupled PP compounds has driven the substitution of engineering thermoplastics such as polyamide compounds in mechanical and structural automotive parts thereby contributing to weight-saving and CO_2 reduction targets. SUMIKA Europe will present a new family of engineering PPs: the THERMOFIL HP range which meets this development challenge, exhibiting innovative and creative performances in polypropylene short-glass-fiber compounds combine with a full innovative material card in order to support CAE and lightweighting solutions. SUMIKA Europe will present a case history combining predicted behavior and real behavior in parts.
