In this paper the applicability of MIMO SAS to increase the along-track sampling speed is verified, and several typical waveform candidates are investigated and compared. Simulation results show that compared to a SIMO system the along-track sampling speed can be doubled using a MIMO approach with two transmitters. The LFM signals with up- and down-sweep are selected as the transmitted waveforms in MIMO SAS, which not only maintains the SAS image resolution but also has low mutual impacts on the sidelobes of the point spread function.
