THERMAL ACOUSTIC TESTING OF HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING PRODUCTS

When designing a new building or refurbishing an existing building there are many factors to take into consideration in order to ensure occupant wellbeing and productivity. Four of the key pillars of occupant wellbeing or indoor environmental quality are thermal comfort, indoor air quality, odours and noise. Understanding how these factors interact with each other and balancing performance parameters is an important part of designing, constructing and managing a building. With an increased understanding of the importance of a good acoustic environment and detailed guidelines and/or legislation as to how this can be achieved, there are many examples of buildings with excellent acoustic design. When the acoustic environment is fit for purpose occupants are able to work more productively as a result of increased occupant wellbeing.
