In this paper, an experimental platform based Arduino microcontroller and GSM card has been performed and proposed for power system protection education. The experimental work carried out consists of three parts: the first part is dedicated to demonstrate the possibility of adapting and using the Arduino board to measure the different electrical quantities such as voltage, active power, current and power factor. The second part is dedicated mainly in adapting and using the Arduino board to demonstrate the coordination principle between primary and secondary protection. While the third part aims to simulate the basic principle of the SCADA system, by remote control of a contactor supplying a load. In order to carry out this task, a GSM card associated with Arduino board is used, thus making it possible to remotely control the opening and closing of the contactor and also to detect the fault in the load by receiving a message.
