Solar selective absorption coatings were prepared on 304L stainless steel using CuCoMnO_x composite oxide by sol-gel. The absorptance and emittance of the coatings were measured over the UV-Vis-NIR wavelength range. The CuCoMnO_x coatings revealed a normal optical properties with the absorptance (α) reached to 0.90 and the emittance (ε) lowed to 0.10, which were much excellent than what can be achieved by CuMnO_x coatings. By measuring the phase composition, microstructure and FT-IR of the coatings, the spinel structure oxide generated with the increasing of annealing temperature. It was found that, the enhancement in absorptance of the coatings was ascribed to the doping of Co. Hence the spinel CuCoMnO_x composite oxide coatings could be used as a new kind of candidate materials for solar selective coatings.
