EMC engineers should be involved in the product design process right from the initial stages in order to ensure effective product compliance. But, when electromagnetic compliance is not considered until the last stages, troubleshooting using measurement can only happen at the end which poses a limitation for layout modification. Simulation can help this process as it can be done at an earlier stage and used to predict the necessary layout changes. This can then be validated by measurement when the prototype is available. The objective of this paper is to draw a comparison between simulation and measurement and to show that simulation can help in the design cycle by saving cost and time.
