The study aimed to perform the non-destructive testing of the homogeneity of the SMC structure using an infrared camera. Flat reference samples and various defect systems were made, among others, inclusions of polymer and Fe-based filler were added, impurities and cracks were prepared. The heating and cooling of material samples was recorded as the sequence of infrared images. It allowed to detect of the areas with different thermal properties. Based on the results of thermographic measurements, a comparative analysis of data from samples with defects and without defects was made. In addition, inference was made on the basis of information on crafted defects. It is assumed that it will be possible to develop new defect detection methods in SMC materials based on the obtained temperature distribution images. This will enable you to identify defects such as inclusions, lack of homogeneity, cracks or distortions in the structure of the investigated material.
