With enough time and effort, a vulnerability will be found. Vulnerabilities are more easily exploited in the absence of hardening and intrusion detection. Layered security should be deployed to protect against attacks that bypass perimeter security controls. Known security mechanisms can significantly improve the security state of automotive systems. OTA security updates are the only way to potentially achieve lifetime security.
