Analysis of lightning performance of overhead transmission lines: Comparison between insulator string models

摘要

This paper presents a study on the lightning performance of overhead transmission lines based on the Monte Carlo Method. The computational tool used was developed in Matlab^{?with direct communication with the ATP (Alternative Transients Program). The focus is to determine the effect of each insulator string model on the system performance index, determining which model leads to the closest results of the historical data. This study is performed considering the first negative downward strokes, whose parameters are based on measurements carried out at the Lightning Research Station of the Morro do Cachimbo.}
