In the field of industrial control and measurement, people usually met the problem of dealing with the weak signal. In the research of magnetostrictive linear position sensor signal process, the output signal is very weak. In order to handle this signal, it usually needs nearly ten thousand gain to meet the requirements of the follow-up process, and the amplifier commonly needs double regulator power supply. This article offers the design of programmable gain amplifier, which is composed of voltage converter chip MAX1681 and programmable gain instrumentation amplifiers PGA204, PGA205. Meanwhile, it discusses the problem of circuit noise suppression, and realizes the signal amplification from 1 to 8000 times with the external single power supply.
