It expresses Lawrence's eagerness for returning home and his yearning for his hometown, his long for a healthy life as well as his voices on his melancholy mood for his native land. The destruction of natural landscape and the changes of human nature in his hometown made him depressed and even urged him to brood on the value of life. The main purpose is to arouse people's awareness of life so that they can live an energetic life.
