Cyclic Steady-State Approach to Modelling of Multimodal Processes Flow Levelling

The principle of production levelling can be implemented to other areas, such as determining cyclic schedules in: public transport, courier delivery, transport of goods, data transmission, energy transmission, etc. It means that various processes, production tasks, passengers' routes, etc., can be modelled in terms of multimodal processes, i.e. processes composed of segments of local processes implemented by material handling/storaging devices, transportation modes, transmission modes and so on. Consequently, it is possible to provide numerous variants of multimodal processes cyclic steady states, which are attainable in the structures of systems of concurrently flowing cyclic processes often occurring in practice. In that context, multiple examples, restricted to production processes that illustrate cyclic steady states flow levelling prototyping, while taking into account the requirements imposed by demand smoothing, load levelling and line balancing are discussed.
