Technical Feasibility for Technology Commercialization of Comformity Assessment Laboratory (Study Case: Manual Wheelchair Testing Laboratory)

Nowadays, in Indonesia there is a Indonesian National Standard (SNI) about wheelchair as SNI 09-4663-1998 which set since 1998 and already used for 20 years without renewal. SNI 09-4663-1998 has not been able to become a reference for wheelchair manufacturers, because the reference of ISO 6440-1985 already obsolete due to this standard has been withdrawn, and replaced by ISO 7176. So the SNI about wheelchair need to be reviewed. From the reviewed result is resulting eight main parameters to be regulated in wheelchair SNI. As an effort of the application of SNI, conformity assessment institution related to wheelchair are needed. Because, before the product got SNI sertification, there should be a test in the laboratorium test and an audit from product sertification institution. Nowadays, PT. Mega Andalan Kalasan has a manual wheelchair testing laboratory and is developing a testing laboratory of manual wheelchair based on reviewed result test parameter. To increase profits, PT MAK will commersialize those testing technology as spin-off company from PT. MAK. In doing commersialization, the manual wheelchair testing laboratory should meet the requirements in various aspects, one of them is the technical aspect. To know the technical feasibility from those commersialization, so this research conducted a technical feasibility study of commercializing a manual wheelchair testing laboratory based on a goldsmith commercialization model. Then, to know the readiness of the manual wheelchair testing laboratory of PT. MAK, it was conducted an assesment based on the requirements written in SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017. From this research resulted that manual wheelchair testing laboratory of PT. MAK has fulfilled the technical aspects requirements of the goldsmith commercialization model.
