Review paper on Torque Ripple Mitigation Techniques for PMBLDC Motor

This paper presents the review of various torque ripple reduction techniques, various reasons behind the production of torque ripple in a three phase star connected brushless DC motor with trapezoidal type back emf. Unlike the PMSM which requires sinusoidal excitation, the PMBLDC motor requires quasi square wave stator currents to produce constant torque. The torque ripple produced in the PMBLDC motor affects the drive performance where accuracy is of utmost importance. Here a comprehensive study of various methods which reduces the torque ripple in commutation as well as during conduction period is provided.
