Study of Adsorption of Nitrophenols from Aqueous Solution Using ECDMZ

Adsorption of nitrophenols (NPs) from aqueous solutions using modified zeolite (ECDMZ) by β-cyclodextrin with epichlorohydrin (EPI) as crosslinking agent was investigated. The effects of contact time, initial concentration of NPs and solution pH values on adsorption capacity were evaluated through a series of batch experiments. The results showed that ECDMZ had a higher adsorption capacity for removing NPs while the adsorption reached equilibrium within 100 min. The adsorption process was apparently influenced by initial concentration of NPs and solution pH values. In order to ascertain the interactive behavior between NPs and ECDMZ, the experimental data were modeled by Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms, and the results suggested that the Langmuir model gave a better agreement to the experimental data than the Freundlich.
