The Interaction of a short-pulse high power laser with a dense target will inevitably induce hydrodynamic behavior both directly by action of the radiation pressure of the laser upon the target plasma and indirectly by heating of the target inducing pressure gradients that then cause motion. In this manuscript we shall concern ourselves mainly with the latter case and the modelling there-of. We will discuss how a combination of hydrodynamic and particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation codes can be used in series to successfully model the behavior of such targets.
