Increased requirements for safety, comfort and environment support the use of podded propulsion and advanced power distribution with batteries and other energy storage devices. However, the challenge for the yacht designer is how to fit all new requirements, especially energy storage, into the vessel design considering the limited machinery spaces in yachts.
