Trauma is the second leading cause of death in veterinary patientsThe Veterinary Committee on Trauma was established to enhance patient care, promoteresearch, expand education on trauma, and enhance visibility of veterinary specialtycolleges.Hospitals are identified and verified through a rigorous process to meet the qualifications to be considered veterinary trauma centers.Veterinary trauma centers are actively enrolling case information into an online trauma registry to promote future research in veterinary trauma.Research in veterinary trauma may ultimately lead to goal directed interventions to improve patient morbidity and outcome.
