Distribution and habitat of Javan slow loris (Nycticebus javanicus e. Geoffroy, 1812) in non-conservation area

Javan slow loris (Nycticebus javanicus) is an endemic animal in Java with a critical status as recorded in the IUCN Red List whose habitat has distinctive characteristics. The change of Javan slow loris' status from 'vulnerable' to 'critically endangered' is due to the decrease of Javan slow loris' habitat due to land use conversion and an increase in the illegal animal trade at an international level. This study aimed to determine the distribution and habitat of Javan slow lorises in a non-conservation area. The method used in this research was a survey method (sigi) to determine the distribution of Javan slow lorises, as well as point-centered quarter and profile diagram to discover the habitat of the Javan slow loris. Interview method was also used to learn the degree of knowledge local people have about the protection of the Javan slow loris. The results showed that the spread of Javan slow loris is found in clusters in certain blocks, especially those with talun vegetation. The results from the profile diagram showed that the Javan slow loris has a habitat with characteristics of an elevation of 10-20 meters. Conservation efforts of Javan slow loris and its habitat in non-conservation areas need to be continuously improved by all parties, especially by the local people living around this habitat.
