Additive manufacturing (AM) is a hot trend that is discussed amongst many industries. In the field of AM with metal powders, the methods of Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) and Laser Metal Fusion (LMF) are widely used. Each process offers a variety of advantages as well as limitations. Both use a focused laser beam as energy source to fuse metal powder particles into a solid mass.
