Investigation of Temperature Measurement Uncertainty Components for Infrared Radiation Thermometry

Analysis of uncertainty components of temperature measurement results by infrared radiation is given. The influence of such parameters of radiation thermometer is examined: the noise of detector; the spectral sensitivity changes in optical receiving system and non-linearity of conversion; the influence of external temperature; changes in temperature sensitivity; changes in spatial sensitivity. Analysis of such components of uncertainty caused by the measurement method of infrared radiation thermometry is made. Factors that lead to the emergence of methodological uncertainty component of radiation temperature measurement are explained: mutual dependence of radiation and emissivity of the surface; the impact of background radiation reflected by other objects, such as the sun, surrounding objects; impact of transmission intermediate environment. Coefficients of influence of each factor are identified. Temperature measurement uncertainty budget is formed. As a result the quantitative information of influence parameters increases the reliability of measurement procedures. Evaluation of measurement uncertainty optimizes measuring procedures through a better understanding of physical processes in infrared radiation thermometry.
