The introduction of FACTS has given the new trend to the power system to solve the power quality issues. At present, a wide range of very flexible controllers are rising for custom power applications. The FACTS controllers like Static VAR Compensator(SVC), Thyristor controlled phase shifting transformer(TCPST), Thyristor controlled switch capacitor(TCSC), STATCOM, Static Synchronous Series Compensator(SSSC), unified power flow controller(UPFC), etc. are mainly used controllers. Among these, the Unified Power Conditioning System (UPQC) is the effective device. The UPQC is been redesigned with Multi-converter to work more efficiently and precisely to address the issues of power quality. It is able to compensate load current and supply voltage in multibus/multi-feeder systems. This new design is named then as Multi-converter Unified Power Quality Conditioning System(MC-UPQC). The present MC-UPQC configuration consists of One Shunt VSC(Voltage Source Converter) and two or more VSCs installed in series with it. In this system design, all shunt and series Voltage Source Converters (VSC) are connected suitably on the dc side and have a same DC-link capacitor. Therefore, power can be transferred from one feeder to other feeders which are adjacent to each other in order to deal with the issues of power quality. The results are obtained in MATLAB/SIMULINK using Power System block set on Multibus/MultiFeeder system to show the how effective is the proposed configuration of MC-UPQC.
