During the laser shock processing, it often using the carbon black paint, black tape and aluminum foil as the energy absorption layer, which the black tape is the most effective energy absorption layer, but the relationship between the thickness of adhesive tape and the best impact effect remains to be studied. This paper discussed the example of AZ3 IB magnesium alloy which induced by pulsed laser, pasted the thickness of lOOum, 200um and 300um black tape respectively as an energy absorption layer in order to test the material dynamic performance, the experimental results showed that it can improve the effect of laser shock processing greatly when the absorption layer thickness is 200um.
