Nano indentation technique is an effective means to measure the mechanical properties of materials, which calculates the mechanical properties through the load - indentation depth curve. This measurement can eliminate some human error and ensure a more accurate value of the test. The micromechanical properties of TC6 titanium alloy before and after high pressure treatment were measured by the nanoindentation technique and the microstructures were analyzed by optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The effects of high pressure heat treatment on micromechanical properties were also discussed in the paper. The results show that high pressure treatment can increase the hardness, elastic modulus and hard shells ratio of TC6 titanium alloy, and decrease its creep rate. This is because of high pressure treatment that can refine the microstructure and increase internal dislocations density of TC6 titanium alloy.
