This paper “Rethinking the Captive and the Free Energy Market in Brazil and the Future of Renewables” covers the Brazilian Energy Market evolution, the nowadays conditions, and the vision of the future as well as the changes proposed in the Public Consultation 33/2017 "Proposal to improve the legal framework of the electric sector" of the Ministry of Mines and Energy based on TECHNICAL NOTE No. 5/2017 / AEREG / SE. It also covers the challenges for renewables regarding those new conditions.
