Primary survey and investigation on fish eggs and larvae in Lai Zhou Bay

During the spawning and nursing time in June and August in the year of 2013, two surveys of fish eggs and larvae in the sea of Lai Zhou Bay are performed, designed to examine their abundance and distribution. A traditional I plankton net was towed behind the vessel to collect samples. Simultaneously, environmental data such as temperature and salinity were recorded. Only several kinds of eggs and larvae such as Engraulis japonicus and Clupanodonpunctatus were collected in June and only one kind of Sphyraena pinguis egg was collected in August and their abundance was also not rich in the surveys. The results of surveys were shown that the resources of fishery and marine ecological environment in Lai Zhou Bay have been facing severe challenge.
