THE FIRST FLUE GAS DESULPHURIZATION PLANT FOR THE COAL-BURNING THERMAL POWER PLANTS IN SERBIA

The primary goal of environmental protection in the field of energetics in the Republic of Serbia is the reduction of sulphur oxide emission from the large boilers of the thermal power plants. Pursuant to the valid legislation in the Republic of Serbia (Environmental Protection Law - Official Gazzette of RS, no 135/04) and with the purpose of complying witht the requirements of the EU directive for large combustion plants (EU Directive no. 2001/80/EC), the first flue gas desulphurization plant, which burns lignite from the Kostolac mine, was built and put into trial operation at TPP Kostolac B (2×350MW). This study shows the design and technical solutions, performed works, installed equipment and results received from the guarantee testing of this plant.
