This paper evaluated two typically used pavement bases of asphalt stabilized and Econo-Crete based on the web posted database system of airport pavement test facility. A series of accelerated full-scale tests on rigid pavement were conducted to evaluate the concrete slab performance under repeated traffic loads for the airport pavement design. Data from deflection sensors and embedded strain gages were acquired and analyzed along with the observed performance data. A simulation of corresponding tests was also completed using the finite element method. The pavement performance observation, response test from sensor data, and numerical simulation were combined on the consideration and proposal on the asphalt stabilized base and Econo-Crete base for improving the concrete pavement design.
