Research on inventory control for equipment maintenance spare parts

In manufacturing enterprises, ensuring the normal and stable running of the equipment is an important task. In order to guarantee normal status of the equipment operation, many enterprises possess a number of spare parts inventory. In this paper, the classification and inventory control policy of equipment maintenance spare parts for improving spare parts management is studied to solve the issue of the equipment maintenance spare parts increasing in production line. Spare parts were divided into deterministic consumable spare parts and stochastic consumable spare parts by history demand frequency. According to characteristics of maintenance spare parts which were stochastic and discrete, stochastic consumable spare parts requirement were regarded as "Poisson process", and inventory control policy was (s, S). An optimal stochastic inventory control model was established with the object function of minimum total inventory cost and contentment of certain service level. The Markov state transition probability matrix was applied, with developed software to solve the best order point and inventory maximum. Finally, a spare parts_example of KUKA robot engine gripper was presented to verify the effectiveness of model and the algorithm.
