For wind farms consisting of double-fed wind turbines with centralized compensation device SVC, a method was proposed based on a minimum of reactive power compensation, utilization of installed reactive power compensation device SVC and double-fed unit's reactive ability to achieve reactive power optimization. According to actual reactive power generation capability of Double-fed wind turbines and reactive power compensation device SVC, wind Farm automatic voltage control system distributes reactive power with a network Loss minimum of the objective function, this allocation method can play DFIG reactive power regulation capability and can reduce the loss of wind farms. The simulation results show the proposed scheme can effectively reduce the wind farm power losses and improve voltage stability margin.
