Milk leukocyte differential (MLD) has been investigated for potential in diagnosing subclinical mastitis. Determining different types of immune cells in milk is beneficial for describing udder health status. Changes in relative cell proportions can beconsidered a valid tool for identifying inflammatory processes, despite a low somatic cell count (SCC), differentiating milk from healthy quarters from those with early or late inflammation (Pilla et al., 2012). This study evaluated use of MLD to identify mammary quarters more likely to be milk culture-positive.
