Barrick Goldstrike Mine is a typical weak rock gold mine in Nevada, USA. The mine experienced the first seismic event in early 2014 and a series of seismic events successively. The magnitude range of most large events recorded since 2014 has been between ML1.0 and 2.0, however, the largest event occurred in 2016 had a magnitude of ML3.1, though no significant damage or fall of ground were noted. A comprehensive seismic monitoring system and seismic risk management system have been implemented at the mine. This paper presents the seismic events, the seismic monitoring and risk management system, and the study of seismic mechanics at the mine.
