Study on Dual-threshold Detection Method for Dual-polarization Receiving Radar

Polarization information has significant effects on radar performances of target recognition and anti-jamming. Radar with polarization information perception has been developed rapidly in recent years. Dual-polarized receiving radar is one of the most common and relatively simple systems, but the detection performance is still questioned compared to single-polarized radar. Most of the existing detection methods for dual-polarized receiving radar improve the SNR (or SCR) before detection by optimizing the receiving polarization, but due to the rapid fluctuations and other factors of target polarization scattering characteristics, the performance of these methods is not stable. This paper presents a two-threshold detection method, which has a more robust comprehensive detection performance for different types of targets. This paper compares the performance of this method with the traditional method for singlepolarization receiving radar, and simulation is verified.
